Modules 7–13 count towards the ‘New Technology Management’ specialisation.

How does the TECH specialisation work?
All students  have the same MBA core curriculum. Your degree specialisation is determined by your choice of Expertise Tracks. Complete the required technology-focused tracks to graduate with an MBA in New Technology Management, or combine tracks freely to earn an MBA in General Management.

Expertise Tracks

This module offers an concise, practical introduction to modern project management. Students learn how to define clear project goals and deliverables, and how to translate these into realistic plans involving budgets, milestones and responsibilities. Both classic and agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) methods are discussed and applied. There is a strong focus on stakeholder management, communication, and leadership in cross-functional and international teams. Through case studies, participants learn to prepare and present project plans that will convince management and clients.

This module introduces participants to the mindset, methods and tools necessary for professional business consulting and in-house advisory roles. Participants will learn how to structure complex problems, collect and analyse data, and derive clear, actionable recommendations. They will practise using strategy and operations frameworks such as Blue Ocean Strategy, as well as conducting basic financial and market analyses. Presentation skills, slide creation and storytelling techniques are developed to enable participants to communicate results persuasively. Team-based case work provides insight into the field of consulting by simulating real projects.

This module covers selected current issues and trends in management that are particularly relevant for today's leaders. Depending on the semester, topics may include digital transformation, the use of AI in management, sustainability, the concept of 'new work', and geopolitical risks. Students work with up-to-date studies, articles and case studies, discussing how these developments affect strategies, structures and leadership tasks. The emphasis is on quickly grasping new subject areas and developing well-reasoned viewpoints. The module hones participants’ ability to keep up to date and react intelligently to dynamic changes in their business environment.

This module explores successful leadership of teams and organisations in intercultural and global contexts. Students familiarise themselves with key cultural frameworks and learn how values and communication styles differ across countries and regions. Through case studies, role plays and reflection exercises, students develop strategies for building trust, resolving conflicts and motivating diverse teams. The module also discusses virtual collaboration and remote leadership as everyday realities in international organisations. The module enhances participants' ability to leverage cultural diversity for innovation and enhanced performance.

This module focuses on how companies can systematically identify and implement growth opportunities. Students learn to analyse markets, customers and competitors, and derive concrete business development options. Tools such as the Business Model Canvas and Design Thinking help to structure and evaluate new opportunities. The course emphasises the relationship between business development, sales, marketing and innovation. Through practical projects, participants will develop and present growth concepts for products, services, or partnerships, receiving feedback on their feasibility and potential impact.

This module examines major global challenges and their implications for companies and managers. Students analyse the influence of climate change, pandemics, inequality and political instability on supply chains, markets, regulation and stakeholder expectations. They also discuss potential strategic responses, such as decarbonisation, establishing resilient supply chains and adopting inclusive business models. Case studies illustrate both successes and failures, inviting critical reflection on the role of business in society. The module hones participants' ability to devise strategies that are economically viable and robust in an unpredictable world.

This module focuses on the successful management of technological development and the transformation of ideas into tangible innovations within companies. Students learn to identify technological trends and disruptive developments, translating them into appealing products, services, and business models. Methods such as Design Thinking and the Business Model Canvas are used to structure the processes of creativity and innovation. The module also covers how to align technology initiatives with corporate strategy and secure stakeholder buy-in. Through case studies and group projects, participants learn to design concrete innovation roadmaps for their own organisations.

This module equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand and actively contribute to the most relevant AI and machine learning applications in business. Participants gain a solid overview of key concepts, ranging from data analytics to deep learning and neural networks. They will explore how AI can improve decision-making processes, automate tasks, and enable new digital services across functions and industries. Through hands-on case studies, students learn how to evaluate AI projects from technical and business perspectives. The legal, ethical and societal implications of AI, such as bias, transparency and sustainability, are also discussed to ensure its responsible implementation.

This module focuses on developing and scaling digital business models in technology-driven markets. Students use tools such as the Lean Startup methodology to transform ideas into viable business concepts. They analyse platform models, data-based services, and subscription offerings, exploring what makes digital ventures scalable and defensible. The course covers revenue models, pricing, growth strategies, and the basic unit economics of digital businesses. Through practical projects and presentations, participants learn how to develop and present their ideas in an entrepreneurial manner.

This module provides an introduction to the fundamentals of IT security, privacy, and cyber risk management from a managerial standpoint. Students gain an understanding of common threats, attack vectors and vulnerabilities, and learn how to design effective protective and responsive measures. The legal and regulatory frameworks for data protection and compliance are translated into practical management tasks. Case studies demonstrate the impact of cyber incidents on reputation, operations and financial results. By the end of the module, participants will know how to integrate security and privacy into their strategic plans and how to discuss these topics with specialists and top management with confidence.

This module introduces students to the fundamentals of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Participants will explore key concepts such as distributed ledgers, cryptography, consensus mechanisms, and token economics. They analyse use cases in the supply chain, finance, and digital identity, and discuss situations in which blockchain solutions offer real added value beyond the hype. Topics related to regulation, security and governance help students to assess opportunities and risks realistically. Current trends demonstrate where the technology may be heading and where business opportunities may lie.

This module provides a practical introduction to SAP ERP, the digital backbone of many global companies. Students will learn how integrated SAP modules support core processes in finance, logistics, procurement, sales, and human resources, as well as how real-time data can improve planning and control. Students will become familiar with key concepts such as S/4HANA and the intelligent enterprise, and will explore how SAP integrates with analytics and cloud services. Case-based exercises demonstrate the implications of ERP projects for organisation, roles, and performance indicators. Upon completion of the module, participants will have a better understanding of SAP discussions and will be able to act as competent business partners for IT.

This module offers an in-depth, practical insight into how companies manage technology and digital transformation in practice. During a block week, students visit organisations from various industries, attend management presentations, and discuss live projects relating to areas such as AI, cybersecurity, ERP, and digital business models. Short assignments and reflection tasks help them to link what they see to management concepts. This format offers direct contact with practitioners and potential employers, allowing participants to develop their personal tech management profile. The excursion thus combines networking, career insights and condensed learning in the field.
